Doc Nowlin was the must unselfess man I`ve ever meant. He was always looking out for us. He thought of us as his men. (his reponsonibility). Every morning he would make his rounds and checking on each one of us.(did you take your meds are you all right is there something I can help you with. He wasn`t just a medic he also listen to each and every ones problems. Doc didn`t carry a weapon he was a CO. If the shit hit the fan he was know to grab a weapon and lay down some shit. We would often laugh and tell each other to be aware Of Doc if there was a fire fight and to hold on to your weapon as Doc might grab it. Doc was a Black man and didn`t care what nationallity you were. C Co platoon was very lucky we were a mix group and nobody care (it was never bought up or even thought about). Things change after lossing Doc on June 9th 1969. The new replacements had a whole different atitude. Doc`s death was a big blow to our Company and most of us we would never get over it.
