I do remember maybe the same day we found a hootch beside the trail and it had new black uniforms. Most every boddy got a one. There were several gook machetes` and I got one. It had a long wooden with a hooked blade. Metal was soft and couldn`t do any heavy duty choping. It was good for chopping down banana trees. When we crossed the river on May 17 th and moved out, we run to a bunch of banana trees. They wern`t much to take cover behind but you could chop one down with one stroke with a gook machete. I wasted a bunch of trees and ate too manny of those little bananas, Peace, Cotton.
