I used the air guns at Fort Knox and never saw an injury. Injuries were caused by lazy medics - it is not the patients responsibility to make sure they are not injured (such as leaning in, etc)!
If the medic HOLDS the back side of the arm they are injecting with one hand and operates the gun with the other hand, no injuries. Lasy medics sit on a stool and use a one handed technique - if the patient moves an injury any occur.
I will do a bit of online research to see if the air gun remains in use. When I inprocessed for active duty in March 2004, Fort Lewis was not using air guns.
