Since the 101st is deployed to Iraq, there will be some Ft Campbell visits but mostly hospitality off base I guess. This apparently is not a 101st Assoc event, but one organized around the 2nd Bde.
This information came from Jim Hallums, who lives in Clarksville. Our 1/502 coordinator Jack Justest.
Hi, Keith, I got your email and appreciate your interest in the 2d Brigade gathering June 8-11 at Ft Campbell. I am forwarding the message below because the attachment gives a sketchy outline of events. Basically it says registration is on the 8th, lunch in a messhall and a supper BBQ are on the 9th, a reunion dinner is on the 10th, and departire is on the 11th. That is all the information I have at the moment; obviously the schedule of activities will be filled out and more information will be published in the future.
The important thing is that I am aware of your interest and have your email address so I can keep you up to speed on additional information as soon as I receive it. Don`t hesitate to ask if you think I can shed any light on any aspect of this event.
It`s good to hear from you. Airborne. Les Carter
Jim Hallums, B/2/501, who lives in Clarksville, has sent me this proposal for an assembly at Fort Campbell 8-11 June 2006 of the veterans of the 2d Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, of 1967-68. We agree that Memorial Day and Fourth of July weekends are not a good idea because of travel congestion, and we have selected the dates offered here. While the 101st Airborne Division will be in Iraq at that time, the Division Commander and the Commander, 2d Brigade, have pledged that their rear detachments will support us.
Unless one of the first five addressees (Jim Hunt, Don Shive, Tony Heiter, Les Carter, Jack Justice) objects to these dates or to the program, that is the way we will go. Please let me know.
`Ready to Go!`
Cushman Cdr, 2d Bde, 1967-68
