I am happy to report that we started a new group at the va in long beach.It`s for combat medics only, and we had about a dozen guys show up at the first meeting.we have had the second meeting now and it seems to be going well. Our leaders are major Guy Lamunyon RN,and susan houston phd.we have a talkative group and agree on medics needing to talk about special issues that are medics issues different from grunts. Its about being chaplain,counsler,advocate,advisor, medic,and friend.telling soldiers what they needed to hear at the time, working as hard as possible, watching men die first hand,handling bodies,making mistakes,rethinking all our movements after actions, nitemares,fears,stress,and other stuff. I have high hopes for this,and I hope that this type group will grow to va sites accross the country for all medics to access.
